Innovate to Bulletproof

As much as we try to limit gun related deaths, the culture of America simply cockblocks any attempts at gun control. But as reasonable people we shouldn't simply give up on lives. Rather, we should think of creative ways to solve the problems we have regarding gun violence and senseless deaths. Maybe there is a way to allow conservatives to keep their guns without children dying because of it. Conservatives want to be able to hunt bears and deer and coyotes so they want their guns, but liberals don't want crazies to use the guns on people. What if instead of banning guns, we develop our nations scientific minds to develop lightweight wearable bulletproof clothing? As a nation we declare that every item of clothing made would be made of material that is capable of withstanding multiple shots from a .308 Winchester. This may sound like it would be very expensive, but remember, electricity was once very expensive. If everybody in America walks around in bulletproof clothing, then we would be more comfortable allowing guns to be carried in public. Hunters can still hunt their bears, deer and coyote, but mass shooting with high casualties would be less frequent. I'm interested in hearing your opinions, but I believe that this can be a start to a great compromise.
