A triple-A game will make half a billion dollars and we still have jocks treating it like something unimportant. Sigh.

See, I'm ok with games that are considered casual, I don't hardcore play, maybe a couple of hours during the week, and maybe a few hours on the weekend.
I loved the previous Battlefront games and wished they would have included space battles, but it is what it is. I really wish they would remove the sniper rifle from it. I hated that the most.

You're forgetting Destiny, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, any new Borderlands game, Evolve, the COD series, the Batman series, etc. All with existing or planned microtransactions and DLC and preordering.
Then you have Microsoft opening up the XBox one and PC to play together. Numerous cross-platform games played by millions, irrespective of Comrades preferences. Steam busting into the living room.
I mean you can stick you head in the ground all you want but you're gonna have to dig deeper and deeper as time passes. I agree that it isn't desirable, but sorry dear, that isn't gonna change the facts. Every industry that has adopted microtransactions sees it quickly dominating. Cellphones introduced it and within three years, 70% of profits were from the F2P model. PC gamers got it introduced, and we already we're seeing it move into massive franchises.
