it's suggestive but not conclusive. there's no reason to break out the jump to conclusions mat. the article you linked had a video Nature put out with heavy skepticism about the whole thing as well

That's why I laugh at those who complain about the events of the past. If things didn't happen as they did, their sorry asses probably wouldn't be around to complain about the past.

It's miraculous that we have even as much of an early human fossil record as we do. Such a huge depth of history, so little to work with. Trying to definitively chart out the evolution of humanity...eh.
That tells me that we're probably also massively underestimating the intelligence and adaptability of these earlier species. Seems clear they were migrating great distances and were almost certainly more socially and technologically developed than we think. They were spreading out around the Med before they were even properly human.
