A lot of outrage on the interwebs over that last scene. People think GoT has "gone too far".

Um wtf. The whole thing happened off camera. Apparently the RW, with the pregnant woman getting stabbed to death in the belly and various well known throats erupting in high pressure sprays of arterial blood....is just no big deal. Same old thing. Sex is shocking, depraved, etc. Violence is mildly boring.

If someone found that scene more upsetting than all the hyperviolence and torture stuff...they must be some sort of demented sociopath.

One of my friends in public school was forbidden from watching the Simpsons, but was a rabid James Bond fan, which was apparently okay.

It took me a bit to realize who the D&D was being mentioned in recent posts here.

While I knew they had used the Alcazar In Seville for the Dornish water gardens, it was nice to finally see those scenes on the screen. Pretty impressive they let them film there. I did research on it (and other moorish gardens in southern Spain) back in grad school, and spent a lot of time in the Alcazar. It's a pretty amazing place, and a great setting for Dorne.

I don't understand at all. What Com posted appears to be more frustration with the storyline than any sort of sexism.

in regards to spider's fauxrage about fauxrage...

what people are upset about is they feel there is a smaller leap for a person to do sexual violence against women, rape, than do do physical violence against people, murder. and statically, they would be correct

further they worry it excites them sexually. and it can excite people sexually. the entire animal kingdom is basically males raping females, all the time. our closest ancestor, the chimp, runs trains on the females as typical behavior. seeing others take what they want makes them feel the same. and since we're still animals, some people worry; men and women alike have rape fantasies. and so people get upset when such things are on tv.

murder on the other hand is an entirely different subject. while there are depraved humans, who did depraved things when history allowed such men to do as they please, it isn't as ingrained in us. and it isn't something many would do. it's much more fantastical in the magical sense than rape. no one is going to be cutting off the head of some stupid girl's father, but they might rape her

i will agree the scene itself in terms of showing rape was not horrible in terms of explicitness. but you should read comrade's link and how it eviscerated her character though.
