Since the US isn’t in, Spain is my default team and that match yesterday was kickass (outside only getting one point).

Iceland showed up today as well with some great goalkeeping. I read that 30k Icelanders are in Russia, which is around 10% of the country.

These first games are all unpredictable. Iceland getting a tie with Argentina after the goalie saving Messi's PK was crazy. A tie between Brazil and Switzerland was also unexpected to me. The Mexico v. Germany game was the most unexpected for me. Mexico beat Germany 1-0. I remember watching Germany in the 2014 World Cup, especially the championship where they beat Brazil 7-1. I figured that Germany would win and easily so. The Mexico team is amazing! Their ball control and passing game is beautiful. I remember being taught the triangle offense in soccer, Mexico was running what appeared to be rotating triangles, it was awesome to watch!

I hate Mexico. They didn't even play well, Germany was just lost at the back. 3 v 1 regularly horrible showing they got lucky they were playing mexico and not a decent team, should have been 6-0. If Germany finishes second in their group and brazil first, then they meet next round in the round of 16.

Brazil will do fine Switzerland is always a very tough team to break down. They looked a bit overconfident and relaxed but they will pick up.

The real big teams (BELGIUM) play today, should be interesting

I'd no feeling one way or the other about Mexico going into the game, as I'm unfamiliar with the team, but I really liked what I watched. I was impressed with their game against Germany. I don't know how you can claim that they didn't play well. The highlight videos don't do too much justice to their full game, which I watched live. Their ball control and passing game was very good. There were an inordinate goal attempts that were high, but a good deal that put Neuer to hard work, and Lozano's near post shot that flew past him was marvelous.

Germany certainly didn't play well and the final score is attests to it. They had more shots on goal and more possession, but they wound up not capitalizing on it. I was not impressed with Müller, Khedira and Kroos, the players I am familiar with and was most impressed with in the 2014 World Cup. I was disappointed to find out that Schweinsteiger retired from international football. He was incredible to watch in '14 and I loved how the commentators went extra announcing his name. I tend to not care much for the commentary, but that was an especial enjoyment.

I watched most of the Belgium v Panama. Lukaku and Mertens put 'em in. It was a great game. Belgium really swept Panama. The England v Tunisia game was considerably more competitive than I anticipated. The Belgium game was more enjoyable to watch live. If the Belgium v Tunisia upcoming game is more like the Belgium v Panama game than the England v Tunisia game, then the Belgium v England game will be a predicted Belgium win.

First of all, this is the greatest world cup I can remember. Just absurd every single game on the edge of your seat. Favourites have been slaughtered, newcomers are emerging, just glorious.

Second, I will be in Russia for the Semis and the Finals. Please provide recommendations - St petersburg for Semis and Moscow for Final.

in st. petersburg, i haven't been but i have looked at things to do as i work with some guys there. the hermitage, the winter palace, and the fortress are pretty close to one another, although the fortress is on an island on the river Neva Нева. there's lots of stuff along the river a larger island, Vasilyevsky Васильувский has a brand new massive highway going on to it that was made for the new ring around the city for the games. they have a good subway system that only has had a few terrorist attacks

I f**k made it to the motherland!! Пойдем!! Got tickets for the France Belgium game tonight, gonna be f**k legendary. COME ON BELGIUM!! City is nice obviously have been drinking since I arrived but it reminds me a lot of Amsterdam. Very European, tons of canals, overall quite nice. Not very warm though and it’s july, probably the 7th circle of hell in winter.
