Again, I won't say that everything is perfect. Far from it. In fact, charter schools may not be the answer for every, or even most, communities. For New Orleans, they were.

This is why each state, or even school district, should have some freedom to choose the method that best serves them. I don't want for the Fed to tell every school district, "This is the model of a public school. You will ALL follow this exact model." The Fed should, at most, say, "Here are the standards that you must achieve. These standards are academic in nature, but you must also consider equal access, Civil Rights Act, and other regulations when achieving these minimal standards."

Oh, and as for your "inthesetimes.com" article . . . sorry, I'm not going to take as "unbiased reporting" something that's written by a website whose top stories today are:

well everyone has their biases in jouranlism but something like The Economist is going to be a lot more credible than some fringe website that is jsut mirroring their counterparts on the brietbart / infowars side of things

Yeah, Galt. When looking for a source to quote, I skipped more than a few where I knew the sources to be biased. I finally chose the Washington Monthly article because it included (by far) the most research. Moreover, it's a center-left publication. So, if there was any bias, it would tend to be AGAINST charter schools. The fact that it wasn't . . . is telling.
