They do very much aid in understanding and interpreting the battlefield. Have you ever been? There's 1320 memorials there. Removing a large percentage of them would drastically change the experience. There's something about the American battlefields and their preservation that you can't find in many other places.
There are 1500 monuments and memorials to the Confederates that are outside cemeteries and battlefields. Remove them, then argue about the other ones later. I really don't think it will be a problem if in a small town in Pennsylvania that hosts a national park there are monuments to the men who fought there on both sides
It would be a disservice to history, as there are shades of grey in war and among all those fighting

I'm cool with that.
Remove all 1500, and in exchange, Saz'll give you another 10-20 years access of your slavery/treason memorials on battlefields.
Or you could just spend the money and do something better? I dunno. Almost like the times are changing you filthy f**k.

The statues at the Capitol should not allow anyone from the Confederacy but I don't see why Calhoun should be removed. Minneapolis has a lake Calhoun that they are trying to rename to "lake Bde Maka Ska". I don't really know how to pronounce it so it's lake Calhoun, named after the man who had sent the surveyors to the region. The man was a giant of the Senate, even though he defended slavery he never took to the rebel cause.
edit: i looked it up. it's be-DAY ma-kah skah. so why can't they just write it out "Bidet Makah Skah" so there isn't confusion? "bidet" means lake in dakota; i can see why columbus thought he was in india

the southern poverty law center has a bunch all listed
https://www.splcenter.org/20160421/whos ... onfederacy , and they exclude battlefields, cemeteries, and other hisorical markers
edit: i emailed them about one and they said they would remove it from the list, as it was a historical marker (marking the last spot north of the Mason-Dixon where the confederates were before they were driven out) rather than a celebration of the confederacy

They going to rename Ft. Bragg, Ft, Lee, Leesburg, remove Washington, Jefferson monuments , dig up grave yards. Like Trump said, where does it all end? Remove every symbol possible and guess what, the gangbangers in the ghetto's will remain.

hillary shouldn't have said it but she wasn't wrong when she said there is a portion of this country that is deplorable.
