Log In Timeouts

Whats the issue with the automatic timed outs after you log in?

I was writing up a lengthy rebuttal but got distracted when I needed to meet with someone in another part of the office so I stayed logged in, then when I came back and pushed the send button an hour later the site logged me out and so I lost the whole write up. Its extremely frustrating. X(

Cant someone just stay logged in forever? Why cant you just forgo with the timeouts? Is it a high security issue?

I tried hitting the back button but nothing doing.
