True there are mods for collapsible quotes, but whats being suggested is an extremely inefficient way to run a forum. Remember all the slowdowns and whatnot old PCF had? If you have 20 quotes (even collapsed) nested in a single post, all of that gets input into one database entry. The forum has to pull all of it up every time its referenced by anyone looking at that thread and is starts adding up quite a bit, as lots of people start pulling it up and even more keep quoting the 20 quote nest making it longer and longer. Get that kind of quoting going on in every thread on the forum and poof - database crashes.

We're trying to avoid the site problems that old PCF had. And while collapsing quotes and auto stripping the nests down to 5 are nice features, they are not really needed to post nor to get the point of a post across. So yeah, its something to add, it just won't be immediately.

Why are you guys needing to nest so many quotes in a post? Do people really need to read 5 quotes back to understand the point of your post?

Also, multi-quotes for different posts?

Example? Not sure what you mean on this one.

I can but its a board-wide change. Unfortunately there's no user options for changing the layout in that manner. I can look at darkening it some if people think its too light.

Yeah more can be added to the list. Just don't want it to be a mile long. There's a lot of different leanings:

No no. Right now when I hit "quote" when there's a lot quotes, I have to manually delete them to be able to post. I'd rather them be auto-deleted when I hit "quote" or something to that effect.

Example? Not sure what you mean on this one.

To quote multiple people in the same post without having to type each of their names in.

Or at the very least libertarian-socialist. I think there a few people who would fall under that category.

Yeah at one point there was a feature like that on PP. I'll have to try and remember what I did. I think I had it set where you highlight the text in a post, then clicked on their name in the profile and it would insert a quote from that person with the highlighted text in the quote. I'll have to see if I can work that out again - seems like a pretty handy thing to have especially once we get the posts per page in.
