Lots of interesting comments in this thread. Most rehashed from many debates in the past. Best home defense is what you can effectively use. Narrow halls and doorways don't cater to long guns very well. Sawed off shotguns are not legal (here in the states) . I have the shortest legal 20 gauge Remington 870 and cant turn in my hall while aiming it. So we keep his and hers hand guns in the bed room right at the head board. A very smart man once said a hand gun should only be used to fight your way to your rifle. Lots of truth to the fact that keeping intruders from breaking in is really the best course. Good locks, solid doors and windows help. Glass doesn't stop much. Every window should be protected with alarm triggers. Removing easy access is the best first line defense.

Massad Ayoob, I think.
Ive taken his advice and loaded both my 1911s with Cor-Bon hollow point rounds. My reserve mags are loaded with Federal Hydra Shok 230gr .45 ACP.

I use Hornady critical defense. Yeah, definately don't want fmj for home defense.
I think I saw that guys video. Good stuff.
