Oddly enough, this is a person I can genuinely admire. What do you guys think?

There are claims that he had a less than admirable role during the junta but he seems like a good guy. When Ratzinger was made pope lots of Catholics thought it was a missed opportunity to make an African or a Latino pope because these are the parts of the world where Catholicism is growing not dying as in Europe. I suppose they've rectified that now.

Overall, he doings some great things that are truly representative of Saint Francis of Assisi.
