imagine if you gave money to the kickstarter
lol i'd be so mad
i mean
they havent even sold any yet. later, sure, cash out with huge payout in a few years but come the f**k on, you didn't do a kickstarter to make money, you did a kickstarter to make a product. i'd be so pissed.
just goes to show: don't ever contribute to a kickstarter.
however, i don't think they are doing this for zynga. i think they are doing this for social connectivity, e.g, getting together with people virtually

I think you guys truly underestimate the degree to which Facebook drinks it's own kool aid. Of the handful of execs I've met, all seem to genuinely believe in this connect the world bullshit, and describe zuckerberg as the same sort of guy.
I don't think Facebook is going to ruin this at all. They are like a good now. They have a core business, makes a ton of money off it, and now are delving into moonshot humanity changing endeavors, like VR or driverless cars. I don't think this is a money making purchase, they truly want to change the world.

Lol these aren't connections, they are people who I spoke with for 5 minutes or heard speak at an event. Like I said, venture out of the basement and you would be shocked at all the interesting people you can meet. And often, they give you interesting insights. I thought FB connect the world was just a marketing ploy, but now I truly think they believe in it.

Oh if that's your criteria then
A) you don't know anything about the motivations of said execs. Their pets know Better than you
B) I've probably met more interesting and relevant people
But having an air of importance is important to you so I won't harp any longer.

well one of the most relevant ones was the former ambassador to russia, who met putin when he was still KGB. pretty much predicted everything he's doing now, including his whole 'run two terms, medvedev, run two turns' strategy.
probably the most prescient dude i've ever met.
