I have no links.. I really don't have an opinion.. I was just sitting here, having a gin and tonic and this popped into my little head..

I'm just looking for opinions from the people here.. What do you think? Scientifically is it possible to go back in time? All the mainframes and super computers out there now.. Will one of them prove it is possible?

I don't think it will ever be feasible, even if it is proven possible.

Of course it's possible! I do it all the time. How else would I know that dharmabum and eynon will like this post before they do it?

we can go forward in time, relatively, but there is no way to travel backwards in time.

Time and space linked so time travel is kind of limited to normal movement through space. Since existence isn't a recording (at least that we know of) it can't be "rewound" and played again.

If scifi continues to come true, why not? If you can think of it, maybe you can do it.

Yeah, that's kind of like what I think about it.

May be the universe is deterministic and there is there is a way to go back and look at everything that has happened. Kind of like discovering the fossilized remains of organisms, except on a quantum level and something that pretty much contains complete information about the past.

Maybe our " physical reality" is the playing back of the result of all that quantum data being mined and processed by artificial intelligences that exist far in our future and have found a way to recreate or simulate all that has happened in a deterministic universe. Maybe these artificial intelligences of a distant post singularity future are "quantum archaeologists" observing the simulation to understand their own origins as creations of long extinct biological entities and our own experiences are merely a byproduct of this simulation.

It would be kind of like us discovering that the intelligence of humanity was the result of the action of intelligent bacteria colonies or something and we could go back and watch it happen.
