You must be very ignorant on the topic of networks and computers if you think you can compare a bug/exploit with an engineered bit of code sending data via the internet. The two things are nothing alike. There's no hidden code running in Linux. Not only would the firewall software see the traffic, but so would routers. Hackers kinda watch this stuff for a living. They'd know if it was there.

No one knew about the SSL exploit because the exploit wasn't code sending data somewhere.

Again, night and day difference and not related at all.
