You cannot get it legit through Microsoft digitally. So if I wanted to buy a copy right now, I'd have to do it through a shopping site and wait for the DVD to come (so I have a legit product key). You can do it through many of the sites that sell Windows 7 Enterprise keys and have Windows 7 Enterprise installed but, as I learned the hard way, you can't tell which of those are legit and which aren't very easily.

MS should just flat out sell Win7 keys still and they do not. Its 8 or nothing. So you either have to wait days for Windows 7 (and pay anywhere from 100-140 for it) or take 15 minutes to download and install Linux...

Pretty sure none of the retail stores carry it any more so you cannot go out and get it in person at all. They haven't had Windows 7 at any of the stores here in well over a year.

edit: You can download Windows 7 Enterprise online from MS but they don't make it easy to find plus it may not be the version you want. They should still sell it online but they won't because they know Win7 sales would greatly exceed that of Win8 and they've put too much money into Win8 at this point to not force the sales of it.

Yeah, $80 is doable and a fair price...

And Amazon is much more reliable than ebay. You have a problem with a product from them they take it back, no questions asked. Ebay? Not so much...Like I said I'd be wary of buying software from them..

I did that a couple times in the past with XP... It's a pain though, and now it's just not worth the bother. $80 is a good price Win 7, and no muss or fuss.. If I decide to upgrade to 7 on this computer that's the way I'll go..

Still this whole thing with MS virtually taking what would be their best selling OS off the selves is mind boggling stupid.. MS hasn't done much right lately, so really another F'up is not really a surprise..

I've used Ubuntu off and on for 5 years or so.. That Win 7 laptop I mentioned earlier dual boots with 12.04..And when I use it most of the time I use 12.04.. This desktop has 14.04 and Mint... I'm very comfortable with Linux.. It's just that I know there are things Linux can't do, and Windows will.. And after 12+ years of being spoiled by XP, I'd feel better with Win 7 as a back-up on this desktop..

But I wasn't going to jump through hoops getting it or pay $150 or whatever for Win 7.. For a back-up OS which is what Windows is for me now, it just wouldn't be worth all that hassle and money.. But $80? That's fair..
