He's part of the Democrat party but Bernie Sanders is the first congressman that identifies as a socialist in 60 years.
I think this is maybe a local Seattle first.

Posted: Sat Nov 16, 2013 12:18 pmWell, hopefully this is an indication that significant transformation toward social democracy will become a reality shortly in the US. And I think it is interesting that now a socialist has been elected to a city council, as that's where the principles of social democracy can be best applied, imho.
