The Internet is not really for black people

The internet is just not really for black people. You try to get news, you read about people hating black people, people shooting black people, then you hear it about how every black person in america is a thug and is a criminal in waiting.

You try to date online? yeah right

every other thread on reddit seems to be a thread about why black people have it so hard in america, or why i hate myself.



I actually struggled with this type of stuff for quite a while. I make my living online, I grew up online so to speak, but about 6 months ago, I had to pull the plug. If it's not work, or netflix, I'm not online. I'm so much happier because of it. All the negativity.

anything that doesn't conform 100% the ridiculous standard of normality, "normal" yet still somehow "ideal", that exists in our society can make someone the target of abuse or even just subconscious discrimination.

People don't have to pretend that they don't hate black people on the internet.

You're on the wrong places on the internet. Think of the internet as somewhere you really go. Physically, I mean. Picture it like a little vacation every time you sit at a computer.

Where are you going to go today?

Well, you could go to Detroit, Ferguson MO, Syria, etc. Those are certainly valid options, and you'll learn a lot. But, if you continue going to those places, you're going to become a very depressed person.

Or, you can go to Hawaii, Colorado, Fiji, etc. Sure, if you go to those places, you probably aren't going to be as "up on current events". But, you'll be infinitely happier.

What I mean is this - if you get on the internet and look at news, political forums, etc., then yeah - you're going to be better off if you unplug. But, if you are going to fun places (for me, it's automotive-themed forums, ebaymotors, online car magazines, scouting resources, basic outdoor sites, maps with hiking trails, etc.), then you're going to be happier for it.

The web is for everyone. It goes from the worst of the worst, to the best of the best, and everything in between. How people use/ misuse that is up to each one that participates.

try to be aware of what others have to deal with instead getting all overly defensive about the benefits of belonging to the dominant cultural faction

in point of fact, having a culturally, ethnically, or racially dominant faction at all within " free, open society" is not within the purview of "ideal" democratic or egalitarian social values that ostensibly shape our society and seem to be in line the "pragmatic" cultural values expressed by the same aspect of western civilization that shapes the authoritarian political and religious social institutions that are also a major part of our history.
