Way before my time, but I remember being peripherally aware of Big Boys and MDC and a lot of other Austin punk pioneers. It took me years to go back and start digging in the crates and appreciating what they did.

All had a major political impact on me. I would have been some gay ass republican probably, but thanks to these amazing artists I'm a really edgy socialist.

So many albums, so little time. If I just go with a quick gut reflex, here's short list that would come to mind. Most of these relate to when I was young and just discovering music.

Axis Bold as Love: Jimi Hendrix (discovered while I was a budding guitarist)
Doolittle: The Pixies
Destroyer: Kiss (my first album and concert ever as a wee tike, so it has to get mentioned. Even though I haven't listened to it in more than 30 years).
Moving Pictures: Rush (another guitar related thing. When I figured out how to play the entire album as a kid it was a milestone for me).
OK Computer: Radiohead (made me a fanboi. I could have easily put Kid A in there as well)
The Low End Theory: A Tribe Called Quest
Mezzanine: Massive Attack
Let it Bleed: The Rolling Stones

I could go all day long with this, but I must make myself stop.
