Saw the first two episodes, and can't wait for episodes 3 and 4 this Sunday.

I totally feel ahead of the curve on the whole Oscar Isaacs bandwagon, I loved him in Inside Llewyn Davis and have been waiting for him to get a role with decent writing again since then (not that ex machina and a most violent year weren't good movies, just not spectacular writing). Was ecstatic to see him working with David Simon for largely that reason (given that The Wire had some of the greatest writing in television history).

The whole show so far IMO does a great job of driving home the scale of the problems and conflicts, and pushing it without condescension or simplification. As with all Simon shows, I'm loving the huge cast and the varied focus. You get a sense that you're watching the events unfold as a part of the community as a whole, and with an appreciation of the bureaucratic struggle that was inherent.

I hope this mini-series ends up panning out as well as its potential would suggest. First two episodes have set it up well.
