lol, that's got to be a really vocal minority. I can't imagine many really give a shit.

I actually remember being a kid and gas stations had attendants that came out, pumped your gas, checked your oil and washed your windshield. Then someone had a bright idea, pump your own gas and save a few cents/gallon.

Honestly, this is the first I've even heard of this.

The truth is, if you drive into Washington or California, the gas costs more. And that's before you factor in that all the surrounding states also have sales tax. We always stop before the border to fill up not so much because it's irritating to have to pump gas, (honestly, why do people want to do that so badly? Is it considered fun or satisfying somehow?) but because it's cheaper. Not that gasoline geographically opposite of the Gulf Coast is cheap.

Basically, it's part time jobs for college kids, or for people who are otherwise unemployable. I simply couldn't care less about padding the profit margins of gas station operators by destroying even this low wage of a job. Let's not fool ourselves into believing this will lower fuel by even a few cents a gallon. They'd just pocket the difference and that many more people in areas with already a lack of jobs will be that much worse off. We're talking about extremely unpopulated counties full of nothing at all but ranchers and unemployed people.

As for people who literally don't know how to pump gas, not sure how that happens. Must be some redneck rancher or something living out in the back of beyond who has seriously lived their entire life without leaving the state. I guess?

Not sure how else the article could find these people. I don't think I've ever met anyone who couldn't pump gas. Would be like meeting someone who couldn't turn on a faucet. A unicorn to write articles about.

I f**k hate full-serve gas stations. I always feel obliged to tip and I hate having to talk to some shit head when I'm perfectly capable of pushing a button and inserting a nozzle and waiting. This is the exact type of job that needs to be annihilated.

Like almost everything else, a robot will do it eventually. A robot pumping and a robot driving.

This is something that simply isn't an issue here. I'd not even heard about it until Galt mentioned it. The only people effected live in places where cattle outnumber humans. But the internet, being the supreme fount of ignorance, seems to have really caught some feels over it. Hopefully this keeps up for a while, as I'm pretty sure New Jersy has exactly the same rules (well, theirs are now actually more rigid).

I wonder if people from New York or Penn get this invaginated over not having to pump gas? Will the Garden State follow along and destroy those jobs as well? Time will tell.

Well, that's disappointing. Now that I'm poking around through the memes insomniac style, I'm finding that most are simply old ones repurposed from people crying about NJ.
