that all said, i think that we often as a society have forgotten to teach our children basics. like, basic basics, not to mention things like building things with their hands. from basic survival in different conditions (like not leaving wet f**k socks on in frigid f**k weather) to how to properly sew ripped clothing, how to change oil on a car, how to f**k appropriately save money... these are all essentials and never taught in school; i learned such things from mostly my father who always insisted i help him with a variety of things around the house, and i thank him for that

I suppose what really bothers me about this whole thing is deciding to go back to sleep.

I've had cold pain before. I know what it feels like. It is awful and there is no circumstance in which I would decide that ignoring it is best. In fact, I'm not actually sure how it is biologically possible to ignore that pain, let alone go to sleep. At some point during cold damage, you WILL pass out,but in this case, it was a deliberate decision.

My honest opinion is that no amount of knowledge could help this man, as he does not have any actual ability to comprehend, assess or react to danger. No survival instinct whatsoever. Even a toddler would seek warmth and cry and stay awake if subjected to that type of pain. It is truly an awful feeling and anyone who has decided to shovel their driveway without gloves in -20C weather, because "it won't take that long," knows enough to get back into the house and grab gloves within five minutes. Even when you know you won't be out long enough to cause real damage, the discomfort and pain is intolerable.

While my execution comments are tongue-in-cheek, I really do think that all treatment rendered ought to be the absolute least expensive. There is no real way of doing this, and it isn't going to happen, but I really wish it would. Health care is a finite resource and it is a shame to have it wasted on the deliberately retarded.

I think chemical castration as an exchange for public assistance is justifiable in many cases. Many. This would not necessarily fit in any broad baskets but it could be part of an ad hoc process to evaluate such matters.

Fair trades for chemical or physical castration:

Welfare for the able bodied;
Freedom for pedophiles after a term (otherwise pedophiles should all get life or the death penalty); and
Freedom for recidivist rapists (otherwise life or death penalty).

All humans should be sterilized at birth, and it should be reversed at 25. That would solve alot of problems.
