Well in his will, franz detailed that it should at least address the aliens mythology in a coherent way and have believable character development and plot structure.
I'm afraid he would have been disappointed.

why did it have to address alien at all? that's dumb.

about as realistic an expectation as expecting a stand alone movie to explain something from a different set of movies.
and what was unrealistic about the characters? what was unstructured about the plot?
