Reading this made me laugh, mainly because there is some truth behind it.

I think the methodology is a little off from reading the excerpts. If it were only women who were getting fatter, or if they compared housewives today with working women today, then they might be able to build a more solid case. As it stands, it seems like a little correlation equals causation fallacy.
Everyone is getting fatter, and it is probably related to the changes in food more than housework.

These types of studies tend to fail based on Omitted Variable Bias.

poor working people tend to be fatter. They also tend to do less housework since they're always working 2 jobs if they can or tired and eating shit fast food.

If you want people to do more housework, it might be better to increase pay and decrease working hours.


It's probably also very skewed by well-off families that have housewives who spend their days exercising, shopping, and housework since they don't have a job.

Its not just the wimmen but men and kids are getting fatter too. I took my son recently to a kid's party and a huge number of the kids over there were fat little munchkins. Thank god my kid's nanny is a vegetarian wannabe since he doesnt get to eat sweets, beef or pork so he is thin.

(shurg) makes sense, it's probably also a factor contributing to how messed up our personal finances are. when you have an adult running a household full time the things relating to that household (finances, nutrition, etc) tend to be run better. a couple where both partners are working have less time or energy to deal with shit like that.
