Biggest issue if the government shuts down?

It's symbolic of how insulated and delusional this minority has become when not only does the majority of the country disapprove of them but EVERYBODY outside the U.S.

The damage they're doing isn't just internally, but internationally.

These same clowns that can't stop yakking about American "exceptionalism" are the same ones who have made us look like fools in the eyes of the world.

Imagine... Over the decades we've spent TRILLIONS exporting our 'democracy'.

Yet here at home our democracy is broken. Politically our democracy has become more like gunpoint government.. A minority in the government doesn't like something? All they have to do is hold a gun to the government's and the economy's head..

Well I've long suspected but now have no doubt that there is a segment of this country that only considers themselves Americans... when their party is in power.

When it's not, they turn their back on the Constitution, democracy and compromise--even going so far as stating from the outset with this one that their only goal was to thwart the president at every turn. Who SAYS that? The guy hadn't even taken office yet.

Somebody asked the other day how we got to this point--how the GOP became so radicalized. My answer is the explosion of right wing media over the past two decades: the FOXs, the rage merchants, the websites.

It's become a virtual echo chamber that convinces these voters and candidates that they're in fact a big majority in the country and that everybody feels like they do.

It's pretty much a cult at this point. Like most cults, these people also continually cast themselves as victims, under attack by everybody for their beliefs which of course are righteous and approved by God.

Cruz reminds me of Joe McCarthy. Nothing scared this country more than the 'red menace'.. What the government was doing then, and the amount of hate being spewed by hate merchants like Mccarthy made what's going on now look like a Cub Scout meeting. In the 50's they literally ruined 1,000's of lives.

But eventually McCarthy, and that movement went too far.. The 1 thing that hasn't changed in this country over the years is the American voter does NOT like extremists. Cruz will get away with his nonsense for awhile, he has no chance of losing an election..Right NOW he's bulletproof.. Many in Texas eat up his kind of hate and firebrand. BUT eventually he'll go too far..

Cruz a very smart guy, he knew exactly what he was doing when he shut the government down.. It got him a lot of publicity, it got the TP publicity.. BUT many times smart men are also delusional. Romney thought right to the very end he would win the election, and he was smart as hell too.. Right now Cruz may think the whole country thinks like the voters in Texas who voted for him..

But they don't.

I said this the other day.. The past 2 weeks Cruz completely blew his chances for a prez run in 2016. But he's still a force in the Senate.. For now.

If you think about it it's the ultimate scam, what he and the other TP candidates do.

It was actually pretty recently that I realized the GOP and their outlets simply pedal scandal after scandal--it's pretty much like watching a gossip network.

These people get elected by pimping rage/scandal to their voters (Benghazi!), then get to Washington and do absolutely nothing.

When basic necessities/services start to dwindle--even those which affect their voters--they simply use that to create a NEW scandal, even though they're the ones responsible.

You saw this in all its illogical, Orwellian glory in the last week when the GOP that shut down the gov't then got all indignant--about the gov't being shut down!

It's surreal.

Ever wonder why they bothered to build those massive bunkers. You know, to keep the continuity of govt intact in case of whatever, then these clowns shut their self down. Don't know if its a LOL or WTF moment? We have three things. 1,no plan, 2, no plan to make a plan, 3, no accountability.
