Obama was popular before he left office too.
Trump just represents the bottoming out of the Republican party. People like space monkey, Southern dad, jimmyz and and lnrw now constitute a large majority of the GOP. These are people who are extremely ignorant and (this is the new part) extremely proud of thst ignorance and who will fight aggressively to remain ignorant.

I wouldn't say "a ton," but yes, it is well known that a small number of ex-Obama voters went to Trump, and that these voters cost Clinton the election.
Ironically, the same arrogant misapplication of the facts that led to Clinton's disgrace appears to be motivating Dylan into saying increasingly arrogant, stupid things. Literally nothing learned by this.
