Well regarding magazines/accessories I figured it be a hell of a lot easier just to register/stamp the gun as they have serial numbers and there isn't nearly as many of them as mags. If you're okay with the gun, you should be okay with the mags. Also registering them gives the feds a way to track large numbers of purchases in a relatively short amount of time. That being said, mags are cheap, do some kind of buy back at $20/mag good till a certain date and if you're caught with an unregistered/licensed one after that, well that would be bad. Yeah I know you can reload sks, garand etc relatively quickly but they still have a limited number per clip. That being said I shudder to think of the fatalities of 30.06 vs .223 at the distance the guy was shooting at.

i'm fine with setting registration on such items, i just don't want to say that it's the same level of restriction to own explosives as semiautomatic rifles.
a suppressed semiautomatic rifle is perfectly legitimate for hunting invasive animals with no bag limit that we want to eliminate as they are destroying the environment, e.g., hogs. it allows you to help save the environment very quickly, from a concealed position. an unsuppressed semiautomatic is less effective as some may scatter, but still vital as they may charge and gore you to death like robert baratheon and you need to have the shots that can save you or maybe even a small child's life or several if a sounder of boars attack

Maybe they should invent a gun that can read the shooters mind and determine intent, then the gun will decide if it works or not, lol.
