now the Supreme court has, in the last week, destroyed the sovereignty of indian nations, ended women's right to choice, entrenched protections for police, and now destroyed the ability of the federal government to regulate. edit: oh and also endorsed government officials in their official capacity as government officials forcing their religion on children

Oklahoma v. Castro-Huerta -- States hold sovereignty over allegedly sovereign native lands

Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization -- explicitly overturned Roe and Casey

Egbert v. Boule -- made border patrol immune from any liabilities no matter how egregious the conduct

Kennedy v. Bremerton -- government officials acting in official government capacity on government grounds can engage in "private prayer" even if that private prayer includes broadcasting it publicly on TV and involves bullying everyone who is directly subordinate in any way to the person engaging in allegedly "private prayer" to come join. worst part about this case was that the majority decided on their own set of facts that were easily shown to be lies.

West Virginia v. EPA -- the judicial branch power granted itself the power to decide whenever some regulation "raises an eyebrow" (actual quote) that something is too big to regulate without expressly stating it in writing by the Congress, even if the congress intentionally allowed experts to use their best judgement. this is about the EPA, but I'm sure masks to stop communicable disease "raise an eyebrow" since the congress explicitly said that the executive branch should use its best judgement to stop communicable diseases since the Congress aren't f**k doctors

Egbert v Boule is the one to watch. As many have pointed out, the jurisdiction of the Border Patrol encompasses a huge chunk of America's population. To grant immunity for their conduct is to say loud and clear that Border Patrol will be the new brown shirts.

Then you have Moore v. Harper.

The groundwork has been laid for a coup in the clearest possible terms. It seems like sensible people have stopped fighting against it.

It’s naïve to blame the court – they are doing exactly what they said they would do and if you really thought they would NOT apply their own political views to all these cases then you are a moron. Remember the Democratic Party literally gave away two supreme court seats by allowing the republicans to steal one, and then allowing that arrogant bitch Ginsberg to die in her chair instead of retiring. They f**k themselves and the consequences have been entirely predictable.

Just wait until the Court rules on Moore v. Harper. I guarantee you they will reaffirm the independent state legislature view, which will allow republicans to legally throw away your vote and permit state legislatures to pick electors for the Electoral College, allowing them to select the President regardless of how the people of their state vote. The democrats will do nothing, while LYING to you and saying they don’t have the power to do anything.

Hitler tried a coup in the 1920’s, got a slap on the wrist, and then came back and turned Germany into a dictatorship while the opposition aimlessly and incompetently failed to exercise its legislative authority to stop him. It’s going to happen again and it’s entirely on the Democratic Party. Demagogues and dictators will always try to seize power – it’s up to a responsible and effective opposition to prevent that from happening. The Democrats have failed to do that and it will cost us the republic.

I pushed my family to go through the process to acquire an EU passport the day Biden was elected. Jan 6 reaffirmed that and I’m happy to say we all now have an EU passport. You need to start planning accordingly and doing what you can to secure your family and finances – voting will not stop this, the Democrats will not stop this, moving to a blue state will not stop this. On the bright side, we are still the new Rome and Rome survived (and some may say thrived) following its transition to an Empire. DeSantis isn’t Trump, he is significantly more competent, and as long as we have competent people in charge the loss of our democracy won’t have immediate negative consequences for most.
