Resolved: America is fundamentally a Latin country

And I don't mean demographically (although that could be one line of attach against the resolution)

America has three things that make us fundamentally Latin, and deprecate us from Europe or other developed countries.

1. Multi ethnic. We truly have the full ethnic spectrum here, and in relevant numbers. White won't be a majority soon. This is unlike Europe or Asia which are more homogenous, and more like Brazil or Mexico.

2. Inequality. Our Gini coefficient makes quite clear we have more in common with the venezuelas of the world than France.

3. Violent crime. Not really a big deal in most other developed countries. Still a serious serious issue here. Again, closer to Nicaragua than the UK.

Each of these three things FUNDAMENTALLY changes society in a significant way. You guys might might want to brush up on your espanol because that's the direction we are heading.

Spain or France was the "progenitor" of most of the country. New England is fairly small

The US "melting pot" ideal is multiethnic and that means a heavy "latinized" or "romanized" influence, necessary for empire. The US emulated Rome, not England.

There are no racially homogenous empires, only empires ruled by a ethnically homogeneous cliques, and that seems to be coming to an end in North America due to the confluence of many demographic factors.
