Will We Forget 9-11, Like We Have Forgotten Pearl Harbor?

Postby SmithSmith » Thu Sep 17, 2015 2:33 am

It was about civilians who lost their lives due to terrorism that day and up until that moment we were not at war. I think this makes 9-11 a little different since it wasn't a military base that was attacked. It showed all of the American people just how vulnerable we all are. It's all about our ideology.

America isn't vulnerable though. We deliver war to others and rarely have it delivered to ourselves. I'm not saying we deserve it or that 9/11 was justified obviously.

But our insulation from war except for the few that serve gives us a uniquely blind perspective on its horrors that is a big problem IMO.

I swear every time I look at the clock, it reminds me of 9/11.

Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.

My daughter for several months after the attacks would inform me when it was 9:11am or 9:11pm. She was just a kid and was scared that we would be attacked again at that time.

We forgot Pearl Harbor? I know about Pearl Harbor and it was many decades before I was born.

Everything fades over time. That's probably why a lot of shit is repeated over time.

We haven't experienced the ravages of war in a long time, and thats a "big part of the problem" ???

I already told the new guy, the Bin Laden schtick is not amusing.
