Seriously though, why the f**k are people living in new orleans? Why are people living in hati? Detroit? I don't even feel bad for these people anymore. You know you live in a shit hole prone to getting f**k up by the weather. Why would I still feel terrible that you never learned from the previous disasters? As a nation we will never do it, but i say let the city fend for itself and send in the army to forcibly evict any survivors once the rain stops. This is bullshit im sick of my tax payer money propping up a city full of criminals and drunk every time a storm comes by.

Yeah, I didn't wanna come right out and say it but since you've been so bold Saz, New Orleans sucks anyway. All the great "culture" is really just a shitty imitation of what I assume was once impressive music/art/etc. Nothing there is good but everyone pretends it is because of all the great cultural stuff that USED TO exist there. Aside from stupid tourists getting excited about going to Bourbon Street there isn't even any reason for it to be there anymore. I'm not trying to be a dick, but one of my best friends lives there and every time I've visited it's been all stupid crap and "if you lived here you'd understand how cool this is" excuses. Sorry, only a few hundred thousand people actually live there, time for you to find another place that you think is cool.

PS: There will never be a cultural re-awakening in New Orleans because everyone with potential has already fled, never to return. All that's left is a bunch of hipster transplants trying to fake it.

In the long term, most of the world's big cities are facing serious problems due to sea levels rising. On that basis washing our hands of NO is kinda kicking the can. What do we do about NYC or DC, for example? Or Baltimore, Boston, Norfolk, etc?
