You know, at some point the pessimist/cynic in my wants to just say, "Who the hell knows why they want to fight over this crap-pile of that shit-hole. They're all f**ked-up in the head, anyway!"
I know that's the dismissive answer - and stereotypical, and probably racist, to boot. But, sometimes I just feel like
when discussing the matter. We try to help, and the enemies of the people we help want us dead. We try to ignore, and both sides hate us for ignoring them. We try to fight for what is right, and the sons/daughters of those killed hate us. There really is no way to win.

Long term cost of Iraq and Afghanistan wars to cost 4-6 Trillion. 35k-52k for every U.S. household. Not to mention the lives lost and ruined as a result of the wars.
