Why shouldn't an ISP be able to control the data passing through their networks? It's THEIR network.

I don't think that accessing Netflix is a constitutionally-protected right. But, I should reread the constitution to make sure.

It's not saying it's constitutionally protected. The FCC can still regulate industries within its mandate though. Unfortunately, due to a technicality, this doesn't fall under the FCCs mandate

I am torn on net neutrality. On one hand, I do think businesses should be able to make deals with ISPs to have their websites run faster on their bandwidth (this is of course reliant on those who do not pay extra having adequate access speeds as not paying should not mean your site is so slow it's inaccessible), on the other hand the intent of killing net neutrality is obvious and it's to milk consumers of more money. Got hulu? Great. Now chalk up even more at a monthly interval to use it. If it were just about increasing accessing speed by paying more, I would be fine with agreeing with the corporations here as it is something I could even potentially take advantage of if I started a small business, but as it stands now I can't.

Is the big hubbub about entertainment?

Used to, you had to pay something on the order of $5 to rent a movie. $2 for the rental, plus $3 in gas to drive your butt to the rental place. Add in a couple dollars for a late fee, perhaps. And, you weren't even sure that they'd have your movie. If it was a Friday after 6pm, you better be sure they aren't going to have anything worth renting. Either way, you're talking >$10 per month for 2 movies, and you may or may not get the movie you want. Plus, want a TV show? Fuggedaboudit.

So, now you get all the movies and TV shows you want, all the time, anytime, guaranteed availability, delivered instantly to your home for under $8 per month. And, we're worried that ISPs may charge a bit more for the service?

No, I'm worried ISPs will throttle this site to death because uber won't pay. You don't realize, this basically allows ISPs to des criminals. For whatever reason. Not only is it anticompetitive, but ISPs can censor content they don't like, or make it difficult for sites with few resources like this one, or other Internet start ups, to get going.

I don't mind paying for Internet. Give me google fiber and I'll pay 200 a month happily. But the idea of an internet censored and controlled through ISP throttle... You can't even put a price n the damage that will do.
