Yeah, in the short term this means nothing. TWC and Comcast don't directly compete. That said, that doesn't mean the merger will be allowed as it gives 75% of the market to one entity.

It's sad that this might be allowed. The amount of political power a telecommunications company would have by owning 75% of the market is just...disturbing.

When a monopoly exists for an important enough industry it basically has to be protected by the government when it's about to fail.
