m4a2 (8,053 produced) and m4a6 (75 produced), the fifth and last versions, respectively, of the sherman did have diesels which could take kerosene but only if they added oil to it to keep the injector tip lubed. the remaining 40K+ shermans ran on gasoline. diesels compress air to heat it to get the vapor ready for ignition. piston engines dont need to do that, as gasoline starts vaporizing at -40, which is why putting that stuff in a piston engine will result in you having to drain it all and put gasoline in it
