Civilization as a whole has been good and has the capacity to create a near perfect life on earth for most humans. The greatest threat to humanity and political stability is overpopulation.

Currently the majority of the human population lacks a desirable amount of material wealth why labor on a global scale is underutilized and is inefficient. The root cause is the lack of resources and the lack of wealth to create demand for these at the bottom.

I find it incredibly worrisome there isn't a greater global effort to tackle overpopulation.

I would say the primary reason that it's not being addressed, at least so much in the western world, is because it's basically not a problem for us. At all. We have a crazy amount of space in the United States for sure. Not to mention Canada.

It's a problem primarily in Asia and perhaps South America.

(looking at you, India and China).

there were so many exceptions to the one child policy and now they're drastically scaling it back.

china's gonna hit 2 billion in our life time.

especially considering most of them live on the coast since the rest of china is mountains and desert
