That’s because I fundamentally disagree with your premise. I’m not a member of the GOP and I’m not a hardcore conservative. There are places where government should step in. Where it can step in. Where it has stepped in.
There are areas of overreach but there are definitively areas of under reach as well. As with any nuanced position any policy can be implemented horribly but have the right idea.
I understand wanting less government because the free market can do it better - I just don’t adhere to that categorically and for all situations.
“Government has gotten too big” isn’t an argument.
And the idea that this bill is great or achieves something grand falls flat on its face. Reforming the tax code typically doesn’t add to the debt/deficit. If this is really reform meant to simplify the code and make it so that you can file your taxes on a postcard then why is it 500 pages long?
