No need to double-down by saying "slap on the wrist" when the courts literally fulfilled their function and the only way it becomes a "slap on the wrist" is by Presidental Pardon, which is an unconditional executive privilege and says nothing about the judicial branch.

Nah, I don't agree. White collar crimes are underreported and ignored by our culture and the media. For every petty theft out there you can find some old white guy that got away with relative murder.

But you know what...let's do this: the amount we spend on counter-terrorism, murder, theft, kidnapping, etc is HUGE relative to financial crimes. SEC budget for 2019: $1.7 Billion
DHS? $47.5 Billion. So let's forget punishment. Let's work on detecting the crimes first. Give the SEC a budget of $10 Billion and give the IRS another $10 Billion. Then they can focus more on the wealthy! You know...the people with the means to hide income. Or with much income at all.

Trump cannot pardon State convictions. He can only pardon Federal ones. After NY convicts Manafort he's looking at state indictments in California and New Jersey as well. Manafort will be doing tall time for a white collar criminal.

But I'm crazy for wanting more in terms of white collar crimes. The sentiment is justified by the facts - sure the outcome is probably for shit but something should be done to put these f**k on notice. This has gone on for too long.
